In Card Dungeon, the player faces enemies which must be taken down using abilities determined on three possible cards. Their abilities are used upon clicking on them.
After using a card, that card disappears and other cards become available for use by the player. Other missing cards become available when using them, and while the player progresses through different levels, new cards will become available as well. Some cards can affect the status of the player seen on the left. When using a strength card for example, a strength attribute will show next to the player and will impact the damage done to the enemy. All cards have different abilities and you as a player will get to choose which card will most benefit you for winning the battle against the enemy.
Above the slime enemy's head is a blocking move, indicating that the enemy will block your attack and heal on the next turn rather than attack. This is a way of letting the player know what move the enemy will make next. As you progress through the game, your attributes are kept.
A drawing mechanic is also present in this game. After beating a level, the player will be able to draw on one card out of two presented on the screen. This drawing mechanic allows players to fill in cards with missing drawings in their image boxes, personalizing and giving more meaning to their deck. The player can draw whatever they are feeling with that card, and when they are done drawing, they can just hit the done button and it will be added to the deck to choose from during battle at the next level. They can choose to use it during battle if they see fit.
Below is an image of a player reaching the final level after having drawn on cards. The two drawn cards appear on the left.
Good luck on your card collecting journey and hope you destroy that enemy of yours. As there's a saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer!
